Corruption in the procurement of millions of hectares of oil palm plantations in East Kalimantan has caused state losses of Rp. 346.823 billion. Suwarna Abdul Fatah, the governor of East Kalimantan, is one of five corruption suspects who have abused his authority. The suspect gave a recommendation for a permit to develop an oil palm plantation to the Surya Dumai Group, which is controlled by Martias alias Pung Kian Hwa. The granting of the permit was assisted by the Inspector General of Production Forest Entrepreneurs (PHP) of the Ministry of Forestry and Plantations, who is also a suspect in this case.
